I recently had the absolute privilege of spending a morning with Gordon and his best mate Bob. Bob is the most adorable Miniature Schnauzer (I need to check the spelling every time I type it) with bags of energy and character. We had a coffee at Gordon’s place in the morning and I let Bob have a good sniff around my camera equipment whilst I got to know him. I instantly fell in love with the little guy and it wasn’t long before the feeling was mutual.
We headed out to some enclosed fields at the foot of the Pentland hills where Gordon knew it would be safe to let him have the run of the place. I let Bob do his thing and captured a few shots using my telephoto lens to give him some more time to get used to me and my cameras. At least that was the theory! Every time I crouched down to get a shot he came bounding over for a hug so I ended up having to keep switching between my telephoto and my wide angle lens for close ups. At the top of the hill there were the most spectacular views across the whole of Edinburgh including all three bridges, the firth of forth and the castle which made a fabulous backdrop for our day out. After a lot of bombing around the wee man was “burst” so we took him back home where I managed to a few close up shots while he relaxed.
I’m hopeful that Bob and I are friends for life and I can’t wait to get the chance to photograph him again.
